How to Improve Posture Naturally with Primal Movement

Our current lifestyle doesn’t facilitate a healthy posture. It’s not something that’s really taught anymore. We know we should have better posture but don’t know how. We sit most of our day. We sit in chairs that don’t take the human form into consideration.

 

We’re told to strengthen our core but are given exercises that only shorten the stomach further, without any focus or awareness that the core is not just the stomach but instead something that’s 3 dimensional. It wraps all the way around and travels up through the center of the body. The placement of the ribs, hips, and even the head are all essential to unlocking this mystery of how to improve posture.

A Glossary of Meditation and Mindfulness Terms

If you practice meditation on a regular basis, you probably already know all of these terms, and may even have a different definition for some of them. This article is more for the person who  wants to learn more about meditation before diving in, so to speak. So let’s begin with some simple terms that you might hear in a class.

Asana

An asana is the pose, or position, you are in when you do formal meditation. Examples would be the full or half Lotus, kneeling, or sitting in a straight back chair. We’ve all seen the pictures of someone sitting in the lotus position, eyes closed, forefingers and thumbs touching, or hands positioned in the prayer mudra, with palms together at the center of the chest. 

Japa

In the Hindu and Bhuddist religions, japa is the repetition of a mantra or divine name (more on mantras below). You may chant it, whisper it, or speak it within your mind.

Spring Blooms by Hajer

Sometimes the moments are just too sweet.

With this, mindfulness comes into play: Create. Dream. Love.

I find solace in film photography. It is an art form that brings me closer to nature and to my roots.

The grain within the images allows for a detailed view behind the lens… Nature and fractals are my favourite.

Over the next few weeks, I will be highlighting some of these captures and giving some interesting biological insight as to why these moments captured my spirit.
