Transitioning from Summer to Fall: Our Favourite Fall Rituals

It seems to happen so quickly… Our long, extended days begin to shorten bit by bit, the air catches a cool little drift, the leaves on the trees begin to shift and fall. It’s not long after the peak of August that we begin to feel those seasonal shifts, perhaps literally, and always energetically.

August always seems to be packed with activity and summer fun… Leo brings us love and life and fiery movement!

Virgo with September brings us back to a more grounded space- We begin to look forward, make plans, and slow down again. It’s the tipping point toward that inward journey. The light and sunshine are usually still there, but there tends to be a palpable energy that begins to whisper… Slow down… Time to check in.

For many, it’s back to school… It’s organizing and reality checks and creating new intentions for what always feels like a new year.

Rituals feel important during these seasonal...

Why We Choose Live Online Classes

A few of our clients have asked us if we are willing to create a library of the recorded live classes we teach in case the live class times do not align with their schedule.

I want to dive into this a little bit!

Our community is founded on the principle: connection is everything. Our initial intention was to cultivate real connections with real people through an online platform.

Daily Ritual was created based on the realization that online classes via zoom or other video conferencing were hugely successful in terms of delivery, accuracy, efficiency, and connection building.

We know there are a lot of online studios whose primary offering is pre-recorded content. There is no shortage of information, content, and videos online. You can hop on YouTube- where any thing you could ever want to know is easily accessible- and at no cost.

At Daily Ritual, we are dedicated to the success, alignment, and healthy growth of our students. We...

How to Improve Posture Naturally with Primal Movement

By Tara Adkins, Primal Movement Teacher

Our current lifestyle doesn’t facilitate a healthy posture. It’s not something that’s really taught anymore. We know we should have better posture but don’t know how. We sit most of our day. We sit in chairs that don’t take the human form into consideration.

We’re told to strengthen our core but are given exercises that only shorten the stomach further, without any focus or awareness that the core is not just the stomach but instead something that’s 3 dimensional. It wraps all the way around and travels up through the center of the body. The placement of the ribs, hips, and even the head are all essential to unlocking this mystery of how to improve posture.

Exercises to Improve Posture

We don’t really teach specific exercises to improve posture. We focus more on functional movement. Personally, the key for me has been the practice of Primal Movement. Through this practice we learn...

A Glossary of Meditation and Mindfulness Terms

If you practice meditation on a regular basis, you probably already know all of these terms, and may even have a different definition for some of them. This article is more for the person who  wants to learn more about meditation before diving in, so to speak. So let’s begin with some simple terms that you might hear in a class.

Asana

An asana is the pose, or position, you are in when you do formal meditation. Examples would be the full or half Lotus, kneeling, or sitting in a straight back chair. We’ve all seen the pictures of someone sitting in the lotus position, eyes closed, forefingers and thumbs touching, or hands positioned in the prayer mudra, with palms together at the center of the chest.

Japa

In the Hindu and Bhuddist religions, japa is the repetition of a mantra or divine name (more on mantras below). You may chant it, whisper it, or speak it within your mind.

Mandala

More than a wall hanging pattern, the mandala is a sacred diagram used as an...

Conscious Connected Breathwork, Explained

If you are looking for a scientific and spiritual practice to help you regulate your nervous system and enter altered states of consciousness without the use of drugs, then conscious connected breathwork (CCB) may be for you.

The International Breathwork Foundation defines conscious connected breathwork as a breathing technique where you connect the inhale with the exhale, with no pauses. DailyRitual.live teacher Elisha Jane puts it this way: “Conscious Connected Breathwork is a practice of returning to our natural, connected, and flowing breath. CCB is a three part breathwork practice including: full, vibrant, active inhales, followed by surrendered, soft, “let go” exhales, connecting the inhale and exhale with no pause, and remaining conscious with the breath and present in the body the entire time.”

Conscious Connected Breathwork is a gentle, psychotherapeutic process practice that can help you unveil and lift unprocessed emotion...

The Body, Mind, and Soul Benefits of Yoga

Various styles of yoga combine physical poses or postures (known as asanas) with breathing exercises, and meditation, or relaxation. Yoga harmonizes development of the body, mind, and spirit. The continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being at one with your environment.

Sound too good to be true? We can understand why you might think so, but there are scientific studies to back up the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga. Keep reading to learn more.

Health Benefits of Yoga

The health benefits of yoga are wide-ranging, and encompass your physical health, mental health, and spiritual health. When you practice yoga, you are working on all three areas at once. That is part of the beauty of this ancient art. Whether you’re a beginner or have been practicing yoga for years, learning about all of the benefits will...

What is Manifestation? How to Manifest What You Want

You may have heard the term manifestation thrown around lately. There are enough books on manifestation to fill a library. But just what is manifestation? Whether you’ve been manifesting successfully for years, or you’re new to the topic, today we hope to share some insight into the principles of manifestation.

Simply put, manifestation is turning a thought or desire into its physical equivalent. In other words, if you can dream it or imagine it, you can use the power of manifestation to create it in your life.

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” ~Henry David Thoreau

The word manifestation comes from the Latin root “manifestare” which means “make public.” So  when you manifest, you make your goals and dreams public. You stop daydreaming about them and bring them into the physical world.

Whether you realize it or not, you are always manifesting, Whether...

The Many Benefits of Meditation

Here at DailyRitual, many of us practice meditation daily. The habitual process of training our minds to focus and redirect our thoughts has helped us and our clients in too many ways to count. You can think of meditation as exercise for your brain. And just like any exercise, meditation yields benefits.

The benefits of meditation affect your mind, body, and soul. While we break down the benefits, you will realize that the physical, mental health, and spiritual benefits are all intertwined.

Physical Benefits of Meditation

Research shows that there are numerous physical benefits of meditation. And when we say physical benefits, we don’t mean building muscle or increasing flexibility. The physical benefits are more subtle, but can include:

Decreased Stress and Lower Blood Pressure

Stress can wreak havoc on your body, with increased heart rate, high blood pressure, fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, and more. Chronic stress can lead to multiple physical and mental...

Cocoon to Fly by Hajer

Uncategorized Apr 28, 2020

Being locked up isn’t the most fun but maybe that’s the wrong attitude…

This time is very reflective of a cocoon- nurture yourself because in the end, all you have is your brain & body.

Incubation allows for creation. The quarantine that we are seeing worldwide gives an opportunity for growth, rediscovery & enlightenment. Spark your inner fire & let it flourish.

Like a butterfly metamorphosis - or a newborn learning how to walk and a bird learning to use its wings. Take time, breathe, and pick yourself up.

There’s so much beauty in the uncertainty. There is so much potential and possibility! It is what brings us all together as a species, as a collective, as a collective consciousness.

Now that it has been over a month, how do you feel? Take time to ponder your privileges and know that if you have a roof over your head, a nice warm bed & food on the table- you are so lucky. There are many people who don’t have this. May we...
